It is to good to believe!

January 26th, 2012

I am a Baubie!! Grandma! Gigi, Grams, whatever you want to be called is what I am. My daughter Elizabeth and Justin had their beautiful son Aiden James on the nineteenth of January. I am trying to describe the depth of my feelings about this momentous occasion, but I have no words and at the same time so many they could never make sense. I have a healthy perfect grandson, two beautiful talented daughters, a loving daddy for Aiden and most of all the most gentle kind loving husband you could ask for. AND on top of that, a handful of the greatest friends on earth. I am deeply and profoundly blessed.

Not everyone can live in a ski resort…

January 7th, 2012

Not everyone can live in a ski resort as beautiful as Sun Valley. I moved here 37 years ago, I actually had never skied and on top of that as a lark I told my parents, “I was moving to Idaho”. Being from west Los Angeles, I really had no idea where Idaho was. Never really knew ski resorts like this even existed. I was all about the beach. So 37 years later, I still live in Sun Valley and I love how much everyone who comes here in the winter loves to ski. In my store Bellissimo I have the most wonderful ski dishes, cups, platters, everything you need for that wonderful home you are going to buy when you too move to a ski resort like I did.

These beautiful plates by Chehoma are made in France and shipped directly to us. They go in the dishwasher, food looks fabulous on them, they are inexpensive and they are a must for anyone who loves to ski. So when you buy these wonderful plates from me of course, make a great dinner for yourself, be sure to call Taylor’d Events for gorgeous flowers  208-721-0165 for your table and oh I almost forgot, of course you bought your fabulous new home from my husband Mike Murphy at McCann Deach and Fenton. 208-720-3323!!  I love my family!

HEALTHY THOUGHTS FOR THE NEW YEAR…

December 28th, 2011

By, DR. TILDEN H. SOKOLOFF

As we approach 2012, I would like to dedicate this Newsletter to all the women that have followed my Newsletters and tried hard to make changes that will affect their health and well being for years to come.

We have written that understanding the issues that cause sickness are in most instances, ours to control. Keeping our stress levels manageable, respecting the issues of inflammation and ph that become the root causes of disease are the keys to maintaining your health. Allowing ourselves to get in touch with our inner self and listen to the voices that give us warning signs of being out of balance. Remember if we don’t listen to the small voices, the scream is not far behind and that leads to disease.

#1 Before we make ridiculous New Year’s Resolutions, let’s keep focus on making yourself #1, on your long list of things to do. If that is the ONE New Year’s Resolution that you make, your entire circle of family, friends will prosper.

#2 Learn the word NO! In my experience, women like to please everyone and saying NO is out of character. If we all learn this one wonderful word, our stress level will come down tremendously and we will not be over committed.

#3 Value food, let food be your medicine. Read labels, skip processed foods, white sugar, and white flour, limit caffeine and revisit gluten sensitivities. Keep your blood sugar balanced and watch the quantity of food you consume. Get your weight stable and help prevent metabolic syndrome. Keep your life in balance!

#4 In two thousand and twelve (2012), partner with an Integrative Women’s Health Provider to create a healthy lifestyle, balance your hormones, take a look at your thyroid, create a nutrition program that works for you, rid your body of toxins both physically and emotionally.

#5 Forget the “gym” resolution. We know they fail after the first 2-3 months with endless waste of dollars and frustration. Instead work with a trainer to help motivate and keep your physical conditioning and weight program interesting and inspiring.

#6 Keep life in balance, learn to meditate, five minutes of meditation will lower your cortisol levels, create rest and allow stressors to melt away.

#7 Change the stories you tell yourself every minute of every day. Misery begets misery and happiness begets happiness, choose happiness at any price.

Here is to the Best Year Ever for You and your Families!

To Your Continued Good Health!

It’s time for the gift wrap to come out…

November 20th, 2011

and all those rolls and rolls of beautiful ribbon you have been saving for months. It’s holiday time! Let’s get the holidays started!!! I love getting beautiful packages and I love the wrapping almost as much as the present. There is something so wonderful about double sided satin ribbon, the way it just hangs over a present looking elegant and full of richness. The taffeta ribbon which always stays in place so well. Dupioni silk is also one of my favorites, grosgrain as well.. I love them all… really… Here are a few ideas for you. Take your time wrapping, get a nice glass of wine or a hot cup of tea. Lay everything out on the table you need, turn on some great music and just enjoy it and the when your done, be satisfied and happy that you make the most beautiful gift, and you took the time to do it. Bravo to you.

My very favorite confection place in the world… Laduree

November 8th, 2011

My first thought this evening was to show you some gorgeous photos from all over the world of ‘Gift Wrapped Boxes”. The more I looked at these beautiful boxes, the more my mind started wandering to Candy Boxes which of course lead me to my very favorite candy box AND then to my very favorite confection place in the world, Laduree. As much as I tried to bring home boxes of cookies with me they never touched down with the airplane. I had eaten them all before I landed! To my great delight New York has just opened the first US Laudree Store. The store is on 864 Madison Ave and yes they ship!!! My dreams have come true.  If you want a treat, or you want to buy me a treat, call Laudree and you will be in heaven 646-558-3157

My baby is going to have a baby…

October 3rd, 2011

and we are going to have a baby shower!!! My eldest daughter Taylor, who owns Taylor’d Events, will weave her magical talent into a beautiful shower luncheon for old friends and family. Taylor is totally in charge of the day and what a wonderful day we will have. Elizabeth is almost six months pregnant now and glowing. But the idea that my baby is having a baby is such an amazing life moment for me! Just the other night Mike and I were in bed reading on our computers, I should say he was reading, all of my time is spent looking at cribs, strollers, and baby clothes. He asked me a question about an article we were both “supposedly” looking at. Since I didn’t comment, actually didn’t even hear him, he looked over at me, only to find me and my computer totally immersed in baby world ideas.

All he could do is smile.

Our lives go by so fast, when we were young it felt as if summer was forever. Now in a blink our summer here is turning to fall. I am going to be a grandparent, a circle of life is happening. Both my children have grown into independent beautiful women. New pages in the book of life are happening.

How lucky am I?

I Couldn’t Sleep Last Night…

September 13th, 2011

We just turned the lights off in the bedroom, really, I thought I would be able to sleep. Then I started thinking about painting our bedroom a very creamy, marshmellowy white, then. I started to think about… ADDING molding. I have always loved molding in rooms. They always remind me of New York or Europe, somewhere wonderful. So then, what is on my mind, but of course, what kind of molding. This sets me off so much I need to come into my office where I am now writing my blog, hoping it gets me to some conclusion about what kind of molding I am going to need, oh yes… And I need a rug! New Rug. I found the greatest new company in New York if you want something different and wonderful. It is called “Woven” and it is right near the Design building. 969 Third Ave. www.wovennewyork.com They have fab rugs and Mike and I are going to order one. It is now 12:14 and there is no way am I going to able to sleep for a while, so let’s have some fun. I am going to pick some photos of great molding and IF ANY ONE IS OUT THERE LET ME KNOW WHICH ONE YOU LIKE!!!!

It is now one o’clock in the morning and I am almost running out of steam, but the good news is, I think I know what I want to do, I have found some great ideas and I think I am going to go before I start thinking about the kitchen!

Good night everyone!!!
